A random thought about Anna prompted an internet search, and here I am! Streaming tears and utterly devastated. But reading how she has touched others' lives is beautiful, how Anna clearly stayed unflinchingly true to herself and her ideals. Emerging slowly from that feeling of devastation is a sense of pride that Anna and I were friends. She was a gentle soul, who enjoyed peace, order and nature and with an intellect I could only admire. She also loved literature and, it is of little surprise that she found herself working in a library. At university, she applied herself effortlessly to assignments with impressive resulting grades. She also involved herself in drama and worked on a production of Measure for Measure directed by one of our lecturer's, Dr Neil Sammells. Of course, Anna being Anna, her contributions were always out of the spotlight, but always vital. After all these years, I still remember what Dr Sammells wrote in his thank you card to Anna: "You were inextricably entwined in the heartstrings of the play". That says it all really: someone willing to give and give wholeheartedly, someone who made a huge impact, but never for glory nor profit. Anna and I lived together for a while in London after university and enjoyed many meals, films and conversations together but my overriding memory of that time of our lives together was the childlike joy on Anna's face when I returned from work trips to the States and brought her back her favourite chocolate bars. So, if there is a god, look after dear Anna, who trod so gently on your earth. And, as a special treat, please beam up a few Hershey's Cookies and Creme bars - one of her favourites! Rest in peace Anna and love to all Anna's family and friends. Dan.
